South Wales is Gwennol’s core region. We deliver bespoke commissioned support, 1:1 and 2:1 packages, placement stabilisation, family support, young people’s outreach, supported and supervised contact and community-based assessment for local authorities across the region.
South Wales is our core operating region, spanning the local authority areas along the M4 corridor and the South Wales valleys. Because commissioned support depends on practitioner availability in a specific location, coverage for any individual package is confirmed at referral review rather than claimed in advance.
Local authority children’s services, commissioning and brokerage teams. We also accept contact referral enquiries from solicitors and families where the arrangement is appropriate.
Regional context
Children’s services in Wales operate under a different framework from England, which affects how support is commissioned and what a provider may lawfully deliver.
Gwennol is in a pre-registration phase and is not registered with Care Inspectorate Wales. See our regulatory position for what that means for what we can deliver today.
Mobilisation
Location affects a commissioned package more than most commissioners expect — not through mileage cost, but through who can realistically staff it with continuity.
| Factor | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Practitioner travel time | Determines who can cover early mornings, evenings and weekends — usually the hours that matter most |
| Continuity | A small local practitioner group produces better continuity than a larger group drawn from further away |
| Contingency cover | Absence cover is only realistic if there is local depth |
| Valleys geography | Two locations close on a map can be a long journey between valleys |
| Waking nights / overnights | Substantially harder to staff at distance |
| Community-based work | Local knowledge of activities, transport and services adds real value |
We will confirm feasibility and mobilisation requirements following referral review.

Send the referral with the situation, the location and the outcomes you need. We will confirm whether we can staff it in that area and what mobilisation would require.
